FAQ
When is the rental considered confirmed?
A rental is only confirmed when a deposit and signed contract is received by the office. All rental payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.
How may hours is a rental?
A standard rental is three (3) hours. An additional two (2) hours prior to the event is provided for set-up. An additional two (2) hours after the event is provided for clean-up. Overtime charges in the amount of $125 per hour may incur for rentals exceeding this time frame allotted.
Does Shomrei have tables and chairs for use?
Yes, Shomrei has tables and chairs for use. Please contact me for more information.
Can I serve alcohol?
For a private (invitation only) rental – If hard alcohol is being served it is the responsibility of the client to provide a bartender and cannot be served without one. The bartender and the caterer/party planner must strictly adhere to all laws about not serving alcohol to minors and to refrain from serving additional alcohol to adults who appear to be inebriated.
For a shul invited Kiddush (kiddush invitation announced from the bimah, and/or kiddush made at the bimah, and/or invitation information is included in the bulletin)– No hard alcohol may be served. Wine may be served, following the guidelines written above.
Which caterer or party planner may I use and may I bring in homemade food?
All arrangements regarding your caterer/party planner and kashrus must be approved by Shomrei. Your caterer/party must provide an Insurance Certificate showing Congregation Shomrei Emunah as additional insured (i.e. General liability and worker’s compensation of of at least $1,000,000, etc.) as well as a current Kashrus Certificate.
If using a party planner, all food must be store bought and contain a recognized and reliable hechsher. No prepared foods from private homes are allowed and no utensils from private homes may be used.
What are the caterer’s responsibilities?
The caterer/party planner must be present at ALL times when food is being prepared or served.
The caterer/party planner is completely responsible for the proper care of all kitchen equipment. Any problems should be immediately reported to the Shul office. All kitchen equipment must be emptied and wiped clean (both inside and out) when event is completed.
The kitchen floor and social hall floor must be swept when the event is over. The floor should not be mopped.
All garbage resulting from a rental must be bagged and deposited in the dumpster. If the dumpster is full, please place the bags next to the dumpster.
The caterer/party planner is responsible for set up and break down of tables and chairs. Anything removed from the social hall (including chairs and tables) must be returned after the event.
The caterer/party planner is responsible for all deliveries. Please make sure all deliveries (equipment, food, bakery items, etc.) are brought to the social hall and not placed anywhere else in the building.
The caterer/party planner is responsible for turning off all kitchen appliances that were off upon arrival – including, but not limited to, the oven and warmers. The pilot lights on the stove must remain on at all times and appliances may not be unplugged at any time for any reason.
Can a non-member rent the hall on Shabbos?
A non-member may only rent half the social hall until two months prior to the event date. If the other half of the social hall remains available two months before the event date, a non- member may then rent the full social hall.
How can I request a contract and finalize my reservation?
